25. DUBNA 2006: JAN ŠVANKMAJER CHVÁLÍ 'COMING SOON'
After the festival we finally mustered the courage to show the film to our greatest filmmaking hero, Jan Švankmajer. Up to that point we were a bit apprehensive since we weren't sure how he would react, and had he dismissed the film while we were filming it would certainly have gotten our spirits down and would have been quite distracting.
Once we were nearing completion, however, (and were supported by a first wave of positive responses) we were ready to bite the bullet and endure our hero's criticism. But to make a long story short, Švankmajer also ended up praising COMING SOON, comparing it to his CONSPIRATORS OF PLEASURE, complimenting the performances, the film's progression, etc. and said that he'd be promoting the film. Fortunately, he has trashed some earlier projects of ours which enabled us to believe the sincerity of this praise.
